In our Oasis and Moments Neighbourhoods, there is perhaps no one group of people more important to our residents than their Designated Care Managers (DCM). We at Symphony Senior Living understand that no two people are alike. This is why it is so important that our caregivers build lasting bonds with each resident and their family. The stronger the relationship, the better the caregiver can personalize service. As a result of this belief each resident is cared for by a Designated Care Manager. Symphony DCMs are responsible for assisting residents with their needs. But, that is only the start. DCMs offer a helping hand, listening ear and a serving heart. They encourage independence, preserve dignity and assist residents in their suites and throughout the community.
DCMs are compassionate and trained caregivers who consistently care for the same group of residents. They focus on learning each resident’s unique needs and are supported by other members of the community team. In addition to direct resident care, DCMs may also assist with housekeeping, laundry, dining services, activities and other functions that allow them to spend more time together with residents.
DCMs become a friend the resident can turn to for emotional support. They keep a close eye on the resident and are uniquely placed to observe and react to changes and communicate to family. Because they get to know the resident so well through daily interactions, they can make. The DCM approach is especially appreciated by the families of our residents as they know they can turn to one person at the community who knows their loved one well.
At Symphony Senior Living, we embrace the concept of the One Home Approach in our communities. Utilizing this approach means working together as a team to go beyond the expectations of our residents, families, and fellow team members. Each department head serves as a role model for the team by practicing the One Home Approach and leading by example. There are many occasions in which team members achieve wonderful results for the residents and families by working together and finding ways to help each other.
